On Monday we learned that county is part of a state, council is a group of people making laws, a mayor is a leader of a community government, a county seat is the city or town in which the main offices of the county government are located, a court is a place for deciding whether a person has broken a law, a recreation is any activity that is done just for fun, and a public works department provides services to meet the daily needs of citizens.
On Monday we had a social studies test. On Thursday we started chapter 8. Chapter 8 is about the government. In lesson 1 we talked about the Structure of Government. It was pages 266-269. Our vocabulary words were authority, government service, legislative, executive, and judicial. In our work book we did pages 75.
On Monday we learned the steps to make a thoughtful decision and a worksheet. On Thursday we had a review for our test on Monday.
On Monday we had no school! On Thursday we learned about being a good citizen. We also learned who these people are Jimmy Carter, Rosa Parks, and Dolores Huerta. They are all famous. We also learned our every day heroes.

On Monday in Social Studies we read about Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. Then we read about growth and change. Next we read about The Corps of Discovery. Then we read about moving west, life in the west, and Pioneer schools. Then we read about the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. Then we read about Growing into Today's World and Space Exploration. Then we did workbook page 59 which was Growth and Change. On Thursday in Social Studies we did Compare History Maps. Then we did workbook pages 60-61 which was Comparing Maps.
On Monday we read p, 194-203 and did worksheet 56. We watched a video on Jamestown and did an activity. On Thursday we read p, 204-209 and did worksheet 57. We read about the Boston Tea Party, the Declaration of Independence, the Revolutionary War, and the Constitution.
On Monday we did chapter 6. It is called Our County`s History. Our vocabulary words are language, oral history, and shelter. We also learned about Native Americans. On Thursday we talked about how changes effected Native American.
On Monday we did a review for a test on Thursday. It went to 14. It was about inventions, skills, critical thinking, facts, and main ideas. On Thursday we will take our test.
